[AFRINIC-Announce] FIRE Africa Grants Winners 2018 Announced

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the winning projects selected for the FIRE Africa Grants program 2018. These projects have been chosen from a list of 106 proposals received from 17 countries from Africa for the categories ‘’Women empowerment in ICT’’ and ‘’Community Networks’’.

Congratulations to all the winners.


1.     Rosalia Health Innovation Team from Tanzania for the project Linking Gender Based Violence victims to the special services using mobile phone apps

2.     Shule Direct from Tanzania for the project Ndoto App

3.     Empower youth in Technology from Uganda for the project Stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship among women in ICT sector

4.     Mashinani Hub from the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the project Mobile Solar Labs

5.     NetPoints Limited from the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the project Solar Powered Internet Kiosk

 
Rosalia Health Innovation, Shule Direct and Empower youth in Technology will each receive funds in the amount of USD 11,000 whereas Mashinani Hub and NetPoints Limited will been awarded USD 15,000 each.

FIRE Grants are funds provided to projects that will be implemented within a period of 6 to 12 months. Some funded projects are new and others are existing projects that need funds to scale up. The selected projects proposals have aligned with the funding categories and eligibility criteria required for a specific funding cycle. Grant funds can be as high as $30,000 (USD).

Nous avons le plaisir d'annoncer les projets retenus pour le programme FIRE Africa Grants 2018. Ces projets ont été choisis parmi une liste de 106 propositions reçues de 17 pays d'Afrique pour les catégories « Women empowerment in ICT » et « Community Networks ». '’.

Rosalia Health Innovation, Shule Direct et Empower youth in Technology recevront chacun un financement de USD 11 000, tandis que Mashinani Hub et NetPoints Limited obtiendront chacun 15 000 USD.

Les subventions FIRE sont des fonds accordés à des projets qui seront mis en œuvre dans un délai de six à douze mois. Certains projets financés sont nouveaux et d’autres sont des projets existants qui nécessitent des fonds pour se développer. Les propositions de projets sélectionnées s’alignent sur les catégories de financement et les critères d’éligibilité requis pour un cycle de financement spécifique. Les subventions peuvent atteindre 30 000 dollars.
